Education Partnerships & MHS Kids Club

The Missaukee Humane Society’s Kids Club is designed to inspire compassion, responsibility, and a love of animals in the next generation. Through hands-on learning, classroom partnerships, and community events, Kids Club connects young people with opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference.

 

What We Offer

  • Guided job-shadow experiences with shelter staff and veterinary professionals

  • Interactive, age-appropriate lessons on animal care, nutrition, behavior, pet safety, and the importance of spay/neuter

  • Classroom presentations on humane education, animal welfare, and fostering compassion

  • Career Days featuring behind-the-scenes access to MHS and the LeDoulx Veterinary Clinic

  • Guest visits at schools, libraries, fairs, and scout meetings for hands-on learning and community engagement

  • Resource sharing including activity sheets, animal-care tips, and volunteer guides

Our Reach

  • Partnerships with more than 35 classrooms across the region

  • Over 160 students actively engaged in Kids Club this school year

  • More than 15 educational visits delivered annually

Our Goals

  • Foster empathy and responsible pet ownership in children

  • Enhance community ties through education and shelter involvement

  • Cultivate interest in animal-related professions

Sponsor a Classroom – Inspire Kids, Help Pets!

Your sponsorship helps MHS staff bring hands-on lessons about responsible pet ownership directly into local classrooms. Sponsorships also cover activity supplies and an end-of-year celebration with snacks and certificates of achievement.

Pet Pal – $100

  • Student handouts & animal-themed activity sheets

Animal & Children Advocate – $250

  • One classroom presentation by MHS staff

  • Supplies for classroom activities

  • Two engaging, hands-on classroom visits
